Work in Progress-Up Close

Today I focused on finishing up the colors on the buildings. I worked to make them more subtle in color to fall into the background. Then I worked on the foreground, particularly the cabbages and some of the glassware. I changed a few colors to bring things forward and add dimension.

Current Inspirations

Images from my garden and recent adventures that may show up in future paintings.
Sometimes it's the image itself, or the just a color, or a piece of a picture that starts a new work.

Current Work in Progress

This is my latest work in progress, Cabbages or China, 34.9055ºS. This is oil and cold wax on canvas. The scene is of a open market in a town square in Montevideo, Uruguay. I visited here last January on a hot summer day. The pace was slow and relaxed, the air was warm and breezy. I am working to capture the lazy feeling of the day and the many choices from the vendors. Do we choose what we desire, such as china...or the things we need like the cabbages.
